But I got the stick safely and sped towards the finish line. That’s when the race really starts for me… It’s hard to describe what’s going through your head in those moments, and it feels like at this point so much of it is automatic that I barely even remember. And by the time Marije was running up to me we were leading.
spend a good portion of the race watching, seeing your teammates run and crossing your fingers all the exchanges are safe. Although I love my spot as the last runner, it’s always pretty nerve wrecking waiting for the stick to get to you.
Luckily the second race was much better! For the relay we showed up on the track in a line-up that was new to us (Nadine to Dafne to Marije to me), but I was in my familiar place, and with a team with that much speed and experience to it, we knew a fast time was possible. Although I got the win in my heat, 11.54 was a disappointing time, and I’d definitely expected more.
The 100m was early in the evening at 18.30.
